Tips & Reminders

Reminder of Mandatory Attendance

All delegates for whom the Sorority incurs any expenses (Chapter Presidents, College Chapter Directors, Regional Collegiate Coordinators, Area Alumnae Directors, Area Development Chairmen, National Committee Chairmen) are reminded that attendance at Convention is MANDATORY from Thursday morning, July 1 at 8:00 a.m. through the close of the business meeting on Saturday afternoon, July 3. If you are departing after the business meeting, we recommend departures late on Saturday afternoon. For those delegates staying for the closing banquet, departures can be any time on Sunday, July 4. All delegates for whom Delta Zeta Sorority incurred any hotel or travel expense will be required to reimburse the Sorority should they arrive later than the above timeline or depart earlier. The National Council is making an exception for both the Opening Celebration and Closing Banquets for any delegates needing that time to travel due to job, family or personal commitments.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER

YOUR CHAPTER MUST BE CLEARED BEFORE COMING TO CONVENTION IN ORDER FOR THE DELEGATE TO RECEIVE VOTING CREDENTIALS. THERE WILL BE NO CLEARANCE GRANTED AT CONVENTION. CREDENTIALED DELEGATES SIT TOGETHER WITH THEIR REGIONS OR AREA DURING ALL BUSINESS MEETINGS. THOSE NOT HOLDING CREDENTIAL CARDS WILL SIT IN THE VISITOR SECTION.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations received by May 1, 2010 will be honored with a full refund. No credits or refunds after May 1.

CONVENTION RESORT HOUSING

Convention attendees will be housed in double-occupancy rooms with two queen beds. Private balconies or terraces, deluxe baths and high-speed internet access in every room are just a few of the special touches awaiting every guest.

Delta Zeta National Headquarters will make rooming arrangements for all Official Delegates and for all Non-Delegate members who have paid for the resort’s four-night or daily room package. A credit card must be presented when checking into the resort. At the time of guest check out, incidentals charged to the room are the responsibility of the individual.

CONVENTION MEALS

Meal Tickets

In order for the resort and Delta Zeta to account for meal reservations and maintain cost control, members of the Convention staff will be collecting meal tickets at the banquet hall entrances before each meal function. It is important that individuals remember to have the appropriate ticket available for admittance.

Registrants will receive tickets in a National Convention registration packet for each paid meal function. Tickets purchased for family members will be included with the registrant’s packet.

All Convention meals, starting with the Opening Dinner on Wednesday, June 30 and concluding with the Closing Banquet on Sunday, July 3, are included in the four-night resort package. Arrangements have been made for breakfast items to be available for a nominal charge on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. Please note: these breakfasts must be paid with cash. Credit card payments or charges to the room are not allowed.

Daily registrants and guests who plan to attend scheduled meal events will need to purchase individual meal tickets. No meals are included with daily room rates. All individual meals must be purchased by the deadline date of April 25. Only reservations for guest meals (no room accommodations) will be taken until June 1, 2010.

TUCSON ATTRACTIONS

Based upon resort availability, the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa is offering members the Delta Zeta room rate two nights prior (June 28 and 29) to the start of the National Convention and one night (July 4) following the National Convention. Anyone interested in combining attendance at the National Convention with a vacation to explore the many attractions in the Tucson area needs to register for the extra night pre and post-convention accommodations on the registration form.

Visit the Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau at http://www.visittucson.org/ for information on tours, day trips and much more. In addition, the Starr Pass Resort & Spa concierge desk can offer sightseeing options and morning hikes in the area for interested members.

Whatever your interests, Tucson has much to offer for area visitors from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, to the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory, one of the region’s world-class observatories, to the many diverse historical sites, such as the stunning Mission San Xavier del Bac.
